I found The Gal on the Internet at a small specialty car dealer in Fredericksburg, Virginia. I went to visit her once to check her out, and on a second trip, Deb went with me. She wasn't thrilled with the idea, but I convinced her it would be a fun project. These are some photos of what The Gal looked like when I first bought her. Here are some photos of the new engine being installed by G&C Express Auto Services. I did all of the bodywork and paint prep in my driveway at home prior to having The Gal painted by my local MAACO. After completing all the major work, The Gal was ready to hit the road. I don't claim that she is a 100 point show car (If she were, I would be too scared to drive her anywhere!) but she is a blast to go out cruising in with my wife on a warm Spring evening. During the Spring and Fall (Without air conditioning, Deb is reluctant to ride in her during the hot Summer months. Can't say as I blame her, as that black vinyl interior does get pretty toasty!) we like to take The Gal out to dinner, head out to some of our favorite restaurants in Middleburg, Virginia for lunch, or just go cruising on the back roads in the countryside. Each year we always drive The Gal to see the Beach Boys at Wolf Trap, and in 2006 I finally realized my goal of driving The Gal on Skyline Drive in Virginia. So, what does The Gal look like now? Well, check her out. I hope you like what you see.
